Mini Facelift

A mini facelift is a surgical procedure that primarily addresses sagging skin around the neck and the jawline. At our medical practice in Dublin, mini facelifts are often recommended for patients with mild to moderate signs of aging in the lower face.

What Is a Mini Facelift?

A mini facelift requires a shorter incision than a more traditional facelift. In a mini facelift, Dr. Sumit Bapna makes small incisions along the hairline and the ears.

The surgery addresses the lower half of the face. Aside from sagging skin, the following issues can also be addressed by a mini facelift:

  • Development of jowls
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Loosened facial skin
  • Reduced facial volume
  • Marionette lines

Preparing for the Mini Facelift

Before the procedure, Dr. Bapna will ask you to provide your medical history. It’s important that you’re open and honest when discussing your information. You will be asked about smoking and drinking habits. These substances can affect the surgery, and their use should be curtailed before undergoing the procedure.

He may also ask you about any medications you are currently taking. Certain medications, such as blood thinners, can affect the surgical procedure as well. After Dr. Bapna has taken your information, he will inform you about the pre-operative instructions you will have to adhere to in order to achieve the best results.

The Procedure

During the procedure, Dr. Bapna will administer an anesthetic to help you feel comfortable during the surgical process. After the anesthetic has taken effect, small incisions will be made behind the ears and along the hairline.

Following this, the underlying tissues can be lifted and pulled up. Finally, sutures are used to close the incision.

Good Candidates for the Mini Facelift

A mini facelift can address mild to moderate cases of drooping facial tissue in the lower face. Most often, mini facelift candidates are younger patients. Patients looking to undergo the procedure should be in good physical health and have realistic expectations.

Recovery

When compared to a traditional facelift, the recovery process for the mini facelift is much less extensive. After the surgery, post-operative bandages may be placed along the face. These can be removed within 1-2 days of the surgery. The sutures are removed within ten days of the surgery. You will have to attend a follow-up session in our office to have them removed.

Strenuous activity should be avoided for around two weeks after a mini facelift.

Expected Results

A mini facelift can address more than just sagging skin. Fine lines and wrinkles can be addressed and the area around the neck and the jawline will have an improved appearance as well.

A mini facelift restores facial volume and tightens facial skin, leaving behind youthful contours and a rejuvenated appearance. The results of a mini facelift are enduring, as long as patients take care of their skin.

Eventually, the effects of aging, sun exposure, heredity, lifestyle, and environmental factors can affect the skin. Despite this, a mini facelift is an effective way to retain a youthful appearance, and the effects of the surgery are long-lasting.

Mini Facelift Cost

The price of a mini facelift is based on the complexity of your specific procedure and whether you combine the surgery with complementary facial plastic surgeries such as a brow lift or eyelid lift. Once Dr. Bapna has determined the ideal treatment approach for you, the costs associated with your surgery will be reviewed with you.
